About Kim Yuhl

Hi! I’m Kim.

In June 2024, I was laid off. The complete story doesn’t really matter. I had never been laid off before and the circumstances brought up a whole host of emotions.

I think the emotions stemmed from the fact that I predicted this 18 months earlier. For the record, saying “I told you so,” doesn’t always feel great. I would have rather been wrong. 🙂

When you are in a state of chaos, negativity, and overwhelm, it’s sometimes hard to see the forest for the trees.

Even with conflicting emotions, I knew, like all things, that this wasn’t happening to me. It was happening for me.

And that came from my “happiness for no reason” journey I began back in 2012. Back then, I was an incessant worrier, constantly preparing for worse case scenarios and lived in a place of negativity.

Since going through that journey, my life has transformed and everything I do comes from a place of gratitude.

It took me a while to get here and it was a bunch of small steps and small actions that brought me to a place of calm and happiness. Honestly, it is still something I work at, and there are times when I start to go to the dark side. It’s just a lot easier to stop the spiral and get back to a place of living in the moment – making the best decisions I can that day.

My key learnings over the years

Life isn’t easy. You have to work at it and you have the choice to make it what you want. You just have to believe. You have to know it won’t change tomorrow but if you do one thing every day then eventually your life will resemble more the life you want than the one you want to leave behind.
No one is perfect. You will make mistakes and you will have setbacks. It doesn’t change who you are or erase the progress you made. It is simply a setback. You address it, make changes when necessary and start again tomorrow.

Worrying doesn’t solve problems. Worrying makes them seem bigger than they are. The problem will get resolved one way or another whether you worry or not. All you can do is make the best decisions every day with the information that you have. If you do that, then the rest will work out.

It’s all about the relationships. Let me clarify by saying it’s all about the right relationships. Surrounding yourself with people that truly support you and want your happiness is the key to creating your best life. This may mean setting boundaries and/or moving away from toxic acquaintances. It is hard work but it will be the most impactful work you do.

These are a few of the lessons that had the biggest impact on me. I have many more to share but if I share them all here then what would I possibly write about?

My why

A short while ago, I found I was so busy at work that I stopped working on the things that transformed my life in the first place: gratitude and happiness. I ended up right back on the hamster wheel that I had been fighting to get off.

As a result, recently, even before the layoffs, I went back to the daily tasks that helped me create my own definitions of balance, happiness and success.

You can learn how to do just about anything these days – there is a plethora of information on just about any topic. Finding the information isn’t the problem but applying it may prove more of a challenge.

My goal here is to share my inspirations in effort to help you create your own definitions and live .

Why? Simply, because sharing this information makes me feel good. Writing is my therapy. So, thank you for being here, you are saving me a ton of money!

I will write a blog of random thoughts and observations every day. Some you might find interesting, some might be helpful, some might be entertaining, and some might not be any of those things. Take what you want and leave the rest.

I very much look forward to getting to know you and would love the opportunity to join you on your journey. The more the merrier, I say!
I love it when people say hi. Simply hit reply to any email I send, email me directly, or find me on Instagram or LinkedIn.
